Yas Island Abu Dhabi to turn green to celebrate Saudi National Day

ROME: The Italian government is collaborating on the formation of five biological territories in Tunisia.

These areas are located in different bioclimatic zones of the country and will encourage micro, small and medium enterprises to utilize natural resources and expertise in the process.

The five pilot areas are located in the Hazoua, Majel Bel Abbes, Kesra, Haouaria and Sejnane districts.

These territories will be the first examples of sustainable development in Africa and will be established under a cooperation agreement signed by the Italian Embassy in Tunisia. The project will last 18 months.

At the request of the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government Development Cooperation Agency (AICS) and the Italian branch of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Research will provide funding and advice for the implementation of the project. resources and fisheries.

Lorenzo Fanara, Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, said: “This is another sign of Italy’s commitment to supporting Tunisia in building a model of inclusive, equitable and sustainable development.

“It aims to foster the development of local initiatives to support productive, entrepreneurial and innovative activities in five specific areas.

“The protection and enhancement of natural resources to find a new balance between human communities and territories is a priority for Italy in terms of development cooperation.”

“The biological territory created in Tunisia is the first on the African continent and represents a qualitative leap in rural development policy and strategic governance,” said AICS.

Dr Annamaria Meligrana from AICS said the development would contribute to the “economic and sustainable revitalisation of Tunisia”.
