Yas Island hosts a host of exciting events from July to February

Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, and its partners have announced a calendar of exciting events taking place on Yas Island from July 2022 to February 2023.

Bringing unforgettable moments to every guest at every event, the unmissable lineup includes everything from global sports championships and family-friendly excitement to top artist concerts and exhilarating adventures.

With the return of Showdown Week in Abu Dhabi, a host of events awaits you, including the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC 281, the National Basketball Association (NBA) preseason at the Etihad Arena, and the Oscar-winning composer Great performance by AR Rahman as part of Diwali celebrations. Also coming to the Etihad Arena is November’s exciting stage adaptation of Disney’s Lion King, adding another layer of entertainment to guests of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Returning to Abu Dhabi, Disney on Ice will surprise fans of all ages with a new show Mickey and Friends at the Etihad Arena in October. In addition, the world’s most popular tenor, Andrea Bocelli, will perform at the Etihad Park in November. In 2023, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) will also return in February, the biggest celebration of the Indian film industry.

Heading into the new year, the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship weekend will see comedian Kevin Bridges take to the stage in January for the highly anticipated DP World Tour Golf Championship. More exciting sporting events will also take place in November and December, including the World Triathlon Championship Finals and the FIBA​​ 3×3 World Tour Finals.

Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “In announcing the Yas Island event schedule for the coming period, we congratulate Miral on his outstanding role as the developer of international sports events in Abu Dhabi. “On this occasion, we are delighted to announce the upcoming events on Yas Island. They are: ITU 2022 World Triathlon Championship Finals from 23rd to 26th November. This is the first time the finals have been held in the Middle East and North Africa , with more than 7,500 entrants, including elite triathletes from around the world, as well as the best triathletes from the region and the region. The FIBA​​ 3X3 Basketball Finals at Yas Bay and the 18th Abu Dhabi Golf Championship from 19-22 January 2023.”

To further enhance Yas Island’s activities, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) and Miral have also announced the renewal of their partnership through a dedicated activities fund. As part of the renewed two-year joint venture, the funds allocated will bring music, comedy and live entertainment aimed at attracting 260,000 event attendees to Yas Island, in addition to 36,000 hotel bookings.

As part of Yas Mall Gaming Month, esports fans will enjoy the long-awaited return of the Yas Gaming Festival, as well as the fourth season of the V10 R League in July. In December, Yas Island will also host the Blast Premier World Finals for the world’s best esports team at the Etihad Arena, bringing elite-level Counter-Strike and world-class entertainment to audiences.

The calendar promises to bring more than 70 exciting events to Abu Dhabi.

Here’s a taste of what’s to come

This July, Yas Island will be the ultimate paradise for gamers, and the Yas Game Festival will be back in full force from July 7th to July 17th. Abu Dhabi’s biggest gaming event will see the best players compete in a series of tournaments and get the chance to meet their favourite influencers.

Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on the Yas Bay waterfront from July 9 to July 12, with a dazzling fireworks display lighting up the Abu Dhabi sky every night.

Moviegoers will watch their favorite screen stars every day throughout July at the Curio Collection at Warner Bros. Hilton Movie Nights in Abu Dhabi. With blockbuster screenings at the pool bar every night from 7pm, the magic of cinema awaits.

With the DC Superhero season kicking off in August, the fully air-conditioned indoor theme park Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will add some superhero flair to the summer. Through September, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and more will be doing justice to the world’s largest venue of its kind.

Guests will be invited to celebrate the 80th birthday of beloved Looney Tunes canary Tweety at Warner Bros. World™ in Abu Dhabi from September 10th to 25th.

Visitors to Yas Island are in for an enchanting October, with sneaky Halloween nights every weekend. From trick-or-treating nights to scare around every corner, Warner Bros. World’s scariest era unfolds — just for those who dare.

Sports lovers, rejoice! October will be an adrenaline-filled time on Yas Island, as the National Basketball Association (NBA) pre-season games will be played at the Etihad Arena – a first ever for the region. With the Atlanta Hawks going head-to-head with the Milwaukee Bucks on October 6-8, fans will have plenty of opportunities to appreciate the appearances of current and former NBA players, sign up for leagues and more.

Featuring at least one world title fight, the leading mixed martial arts promotion UFC 281 on October 22 promises an action-packed weekend at the Etihad Arena.

The little ones, and those young at heart, will once again sing and dance at Disney on Ice with their beloved animated protagonists. From October 12-16, Mickey and Friends will tell the story of Moana’s journey to the high seas and Toy Story hero Woody and the gang’s friendships — and reunite with sisters Anna and Elsa from Frozen Go to Arundel together.

Iconic Indian artist will land on Yas Island at the end of October, as part of Diwali celebrations on Wednesday 26th, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman will captivate audiences at the Etihad Arena, alongside Arijit Singh and Rahat Fatel Ali Khan performed at the destination. The Middle East’s ultimate feel-good music festival, Club Social, runs from October 28th to October 30th, with headliners Clean Bandit and performances by Kaiser Chiefs, Liam Gallagher and Battle of the Bands finale.

November brings more excitement to Yas Island, and the FIFA Club World Cup™ Fan Zone keeps fans entertained until December 18th. Yas’ racing weekend kicks off four days on 17 November with the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix taking off at Yas Marina Circuit, which will send the pulse racing.

The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from 17-20 November will also feature four international artists for a Yasalam post-race concert, as well as an F1 Ladies Day at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi Activity. Considered the No. 1 urban team sport in the world, the FIBA ​​3×3 World Tour Finals is heading to Yas Island for the third time on December 9-10.

Esports fans will also enjoy the most explosive, engaging and entertaining esports event at the World Blast Premier World Finals at the Etihad Arena on 17-18 December, a place for everyone. A global tour that offers elite Counter-Strike and world-class entertainment.

2023 will kick off with spectacular fireworks on Yas Island before comedian, presenter, author and TV presenter Jimmy Carr arrives in the capital on January 7. The laughter continues at Abu Dhabi Championship weekend, with fun guy Kevin Bridges performing his first solo for the European Tour Golf Championship weekend on January 21.
