Sea World Yas Island In Abu Dhabi, the first SeaWorld theme park outside of the United States and its Yas Seaworld Research and Rescue Facility officially opened in February.
The marine life theme park is also the first of its kind in the UAE. The theme park, as well as the rescue center, are Global Humane certified for animal welfare.
Spanning five indoor floors, Yas Island SeaWorld takes visitors on a global ocean adventure from the Arctic and Antarctica to the tropics, with eight distinct areas showcasing marine life from these key regions, including the Abu Dhabi Marine Region. Other areas include MicroOcean, Tropical Ocean and Rocky Point.
Throughout the park, guests will experience 20 walking characters and shows, 17 dining options and 13 retail outlets.
“This is an important day for our fans and us at SeaWorld as we see the culmination of years of intensive planning and collaboration with our partners at Miral to bring our important experiential mission to the region , and inspire visitors to protect animals and the wonders of our world,” said SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment CEO Marc Swanson. “With this park’s innovative, vibrant animal habitats and immersive natural environments, we are bringing the next generation of experiences to a whole new part of the world that is exciting to visit and enjoy.”
Each exhibit offers a welfare-centred approach to simulating the animals’ natural environments.
Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane, said: “Our first accreditation in the region provides an opportunity to recognize the widespread impact of the animal welfare movement in zoos, aquariums and conservation parks around the world. We are delighted SeaWorld has met the criteria for Global Humane Certification in the region, joining their sister parks in the United States that have long exemplified high standards of animal care.”
