Returning for a fifth season, this year welcomes an unprecedentedly large line-up, with eight prestigious junior single-seater Formula 1 teams signing up for the new season, competing in five rounds of 15 races in the UAE. The championship will feature an Autotecnica engine and a Tatuus F.3 T-318 frame.
Joining the Al Qubaisi family are Mercedes Junior and 2019 Italian F4 Rookie Cup winner Paul Aron, Red Bull Junior and 2021 Formula Regional European Rookie Cup winner Isack Hadjar and Sebastian Montoya, son of former F1 driver Juan Pablo.
UAE Formula 4
Following the non-championship race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December, the first championship race of the sixth season of Formula 4 in the UAE will take place this weekend at Yas Marina Circuit. The 2021/2022 F4UAE season will consist of 5 championship rounds with a total of 20 points races between January and February. This season will feature an all-new second-generation Tatuus F4 car with halo safety gear.
Both the Asian Regional Championship and the Formula 4 Championship are important stepping stones for young drivers to reach the highest levels of single-seater racing, and today many Formula 1 stars pass through these stages first.
This weekend will also feature the second round of the 24 Hours series, the Hankook 6 Hours of Abu Dhabi and the third round of the Gulf Radical Cup, which will feature three races over the weekend.
