Year 50: Dubai Motor Speedway will host a tribute to the 1981 Grand Prix-News

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE, the Dubai Motor Speedway will host the historic Dubai Grand Prix revival supported by Gulf Historic, paying tribute to the 1981 Dubai Grand Prix, the first of its kind in the region Match. The Dubai Autodrome is the UAE’s first major motorsport and circuit in the Middle East. This major event will be held on December 3 this year. It will include all the logos of the 1981 event. As early as 1981, as part of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE, the first Grand Prix in the Gulf region was held in Dubai. The event was organized by the then police chief, 28-year-old Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, accompanied by his major Saeed Khalfan, who was also the chairman of the Al Nasr Motor Sports Club. The two found Martin Hone and held a one-time Dubai Grand Prix with many world-famous drivers (including Nigel Mansel, Juan Manual Fangio and Stirling Moss, etc.).

Fast forward 40 years. Commenting on the upcoming event, Dubai Motorsport General Manager Faisal Al Sahlawi said: “Dubai Motorsports is delighted to relive a part of the history of racing in the region. Since that extraordinary event that attracted drivers, it has passed. For decades, drivers and fans have come to Dubai to witness the region’s first F1 Grand Prix. Since that celebration, Dubai has become the venue for hundreds of racing events. This year, the public will witness the historic significance Formula One cars, Group C cars, etc., raced on the 5.39km Dubai Circuit. Our goal is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country’s founding while combining the past with the present. We hope to work with our partners , For our tourists to spend a family-friendly day at the Dubai Motor Speedway.”

The event will combine motorsports and celebrations, and will also showcase iconic and classic cars, children’s activities, sweepstakes and prizes, vintage booths, and the UAE Heritage Village that offers live music and entertainment. It is expected that celebrity drivers will also participate in the most anticipated racing events, and visitors are encouraged to participate in retro classic styles.
