Urban pop rock stars to perform together at festival concert
Many Filipinos in the UAE may have to skip another Christmas family reunion to go home due to the pandemic, but a slew of superstars aren’t keeping anyone down this festive season.
Singers Yeng Constantino, KZ Tandingan and Erik Santos along with “Queen” Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will bring the Filipino Christmas spirit to Dubai this Friday.
“I can sing OPM [Original Pilipino Music] To our fellow citizens, let them feel the spirit of the season as if they were at home. I look forward to seeing them in Dubai and singing with them,” Yeng told City Times.
The pop rock star is no stranger to pandemic challenges. Like many Filipinos who have returned home and around the world, Yeng has faced difficulties.
“I can’t write a lot of songs, just a few. But I’m not sad about it because I’m taking my time,” she said.
When asked how she was able to beat the Covid blues, Yeng said: “I didn’t think there was anything I could do to change the situation, so I just changed my mindset. I used this time to rest and reflect.”
She also finds time to connect with her supporters through occasional Facebook Live sessions. “Me and my friends also played music so my fans wouldn’t miss me too much.”
Yeng has been looking forward to the Christmas concert in Dubai – as it will be her first overseas gig in almost two years.
In her latest vlog, the pop-rock star shares how she misses traveling the world singing for Filipinos overseas.
“Imagine we’ve been traveling every year since I’ve worked in show business. However, due to the pandemic, the show has been postponed. While there are still many blessings to be thankful for, two years later we were able to fly out of the country for It’s really a big bonus for fellow Filipinos working in Dubai to perform,” she said.
“Finally, that’s it.
Like Yeng, KZ, known as the Supreme of Asian Soul, has managed to keep her music alive during the pandemic. In fact, she recently landed a billboard in Times Square in New York when her first international single hit Spotify’s global playlists.
KZ is expected to sing the song 11:59 for her Emirati fans during the Dubai concert.
For Catriona, the show follows the release of her new single, RYF, in May of this year. The song Raise Your Flag was originally recorded in rap by KZ.
The Paskong Handog sa Pinoy concert will be held at the Dubai Music Festival Arena on December 10th. Available at Platinumlist and Virgin Megastores, tickets start at Dh100 (Silver), Dh200 (Gold), Dh300 (Platinum) and Dh400 (Royal).
