People who go to the beach must avoid contact with sea snakes. If they are bitten by sea snakes, please go to the hospital immediately.
If you go to the beaches of Abu Dhabi, please pay attention to your steps. You may encounter sea snakes.
The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) reminded residents on Tuesday that snakes were found on the beach.
As the temperature in the capital drops this week, more residents may go outdoors. EAD issued a timely announcement stating: “The waters of Abu Dhabi are home to sea snakes, locally known as Boni. Sea snakes inhabit open and shallow waters, coral reefs and beaches. Many sea snakes have been found on some beaches in the UAE.”
EAD said that sea snakes are common during temperature fluctuations.
“The reason for monitoring sea snakes and their increase on the beach is due to the fact that they gather near the coastal areas during this time, and the temperature and climatic conditions fluctuate. The sea also affects their movement, causing them to drift to the beach.”
EAD emphasizes that people who go to the beach must avoid contact with snakes.
“If you encounter a sea snake on the beach, please make sure you avoid touching or catching this snake and keep a safe distance to ensure your safety.”
Residents have been urged to notify the site management or contact the Abu Dhabi government at 800555. “If you are bitten by a sea snake, please go to the hospital as soon as possible.”
