After Akamai Technologies experienced its second service outage, many major websites faced problems.
Major websites and Internet services, including those of banking shipping and technology companies, faced disruptions on Thursday, and cloud service provider Akamai Technologies said it had experienced extensive service disruptions.
Users on downdetector.com have reported issues with websites and services such as Amazon, PayTM, YouTube, and other major companies and brands.
However, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company stated that it is “resuming normal operations of its Edge DNS service” about 30 minutes after the company reported an outage. The company also stated that it is continuing to monitor the situation and confirmed that the outage was “not the result of a cyber attack on the Akamai platform.”
According to RT News, industries such as video games, travel, online streaming services, banking, and shipping are all affected by the cloud provider Akamai Technologies’ problem, which appears to have caused thousands of websites around the world to go offline.
It further reported that gaming platforms Steam and PlayStation Network, travel services Expedia and Airbnb, shipping giants UPS and FedEx, as well as banks and financial institutions such as Chase, Discover, Capital One, Fidelity and American Express have all offered their network services.
This is Akamai’s second outage after a service outage on its hosting platform last month. Waiting for further details.
