Take the spoon, and tuck it in…
Get ready for some of the most decadent, indulgent, beautiful and mouthwatering desserts in Abu Dhabi.
all about chocolate
1. Chocolate Fudge
Location: Raclette
When a rich chocolate fudge is done well, it’s hard to beat, and we think Raclette – the king of melting – offers one of the best. Its piping hot fudge assisted chocolate (Dhs60) is served with raspberry jam and topped with sweet vanilla ice cream, crunchy hazelnut croquette and toasted meringue.
2. Nut Mousse
Location: Coya Abu Dhabi
With eight exquisite options on Coya’s à la carte dessert menu, it’s hard to pick the best of the bunch – but that’s definitely not the case with its Praline Mousse (Dhs68). In fact, it’s a silky, rich chocolate mousse with pralines, verbena and a nostalgic white chocolate ice cream. Dreamy and decadent.
3. Cookie Puffs
Location: Paradise
Chef Hugo has unveiled an exciting summer dessert menu, with the highlight being this part souffle, part cookie beast (Dhs90). Using a 72% chocolate and pistachio parfait from Venezuela, it’s indulgent and playful.
4. Oreo Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake
Location: Central
What happens when you mix cheesecake and chocolate cake? You make an all-purpose, high-calorie plate. Order your dishes from Central and look forward to a feast with Orea cookies, baked cheesecake, fudge chocolate brownies, chocolate sauce and Orea ice cream (Dhs55).
5. Chocolate Fudge
where: they are
Slightly more unusual than a regular chocolate lava cake is the fruit selection of Conrad Etihad Towers’ South American firm Vakava. Its Chocolate Fudge (Dhs55) exudes melty goodness, served with vanilla ice cream, orange juice and seasonal fruit. The picture is also perfect and delicious.

6. Yarrow
Location: Lighthouse, Yas Bay
This lovely dish is everything a delicious dessert should be: creamy and crunchy, sweet but not greasy, approachable but clearly more complex than it looks, and the lighthouse’s lasagna (Dhs45) smashes it out of the park (bay?) . Layers of homemade pâte feuilletée (it’s a French puff pastry) and vanilla custard topped with mascarpone cream and garnished with powdered sugar and vanilla pods. Delicate yet delicious.
7. Apple Pie
Location: Fouquet’s
Here’s a tip when you visit Fouquet’s, the award-winning French restaurant at Louvre Abu Dhabi: Order dessert first. The tarte aux pomme (Dhs120) takes 40 minutes to prepare, but boy, is it worth the wait? This thin layer of freshly baked dessert is served with cinnamon-flavored whipped cream and a lemon caramel glaze.
8. Pistachio bombolini (coming soon!)
Location: Cipriani Dolci
The Cipriani brand needs little introduction. This Italian gastronomic powerhouse started in 1931, and 90 years later, Cipriani has grown into an international hotel brand with venues all over the world. One of its newest offshoots is Cipriani Dolci, a celebration of traditional Italian pastries – decorated with glossy walnut wood and swishly served by waiters in white uniforms. This month, Cipriani Dolci plans to open a third branch in Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall. Diners will find a menu of Cipriani classics, but we can’t wait to sample the wide variety of desserts and pastries. After enjoying many pistachio bombs at the Dubai Mall outpost, we can say without hesitation that this is absolutely sensational.

9. Mango Sticky Rice
Location: Santaya
Ah, mango sticky rice. A Thai specialty, the perfect blend of complementary textures and flavours, sweet ripe mangoes add juicy fruitiness to the coconut milk-soaked sticky rice. We love the Regis Saadiyat Island Hotel in Santaya (Dhs55), which promises all of this with some pandan sauce added.
10. There is a death kheshna
Venue: Hanon Feras Sweets & Restaurant
Phyllo dough, cheese, pistachios and rosewater syrup are combined in this exquisite dessert, loved by the Middle East, especially the Palestinians. Order a 4kg platter from legendary confectioner Hanon Feras Sweets for AED 300 and you’ll wonder how you’d live without it.
11. New York Cheesecake
Location: Butcher & Still
A real New York cheesecake is smooth and sweet, with a slightly tart flavor, and it’s easy to make: cream cheese, eggs, sugar, vanilla, heavy cream, or sour cream. Our favorite version in town is Four Seasons’ Butcher & Still Steakhouse. It’s a creamy, fluffy, berry-covered delight.
12. Toffee Date Pudding
Location: Oak House
Forget counting calories with this amazing wedge. Tom Aikens’ Sticky Toffee Date Pudding has light and dark sugars, along with salt, dates, and butter, even before you get close to the clotted cream next to it. It’s heavy and rich – it might die for it.
13. Tiramisu
Location: Antonia
what happened Tried many tiramisu in Abu Dhabi in the name of journalism but none came close to Antonia’s Perfect Bowl (Dhs55). Slide a spoon over the cocoa nibs and inside you’ll find the perfect ratio of espresso, mascarpone cheese and Savoiardi muffin biscuits.
Extra Abu Dhabi
14. Funky Pastries
Location: Flash of Genius
Inspired by vintage circus tents, the first UAE branch of Parisian Pastry Wonderland offers creative desserts that almost seem too perfect and luxurious to eat. This includes Abu Dhabi exclusives such as Golden Date Puffs (of course) and the mesmerizing hot chocolate balls, a sensational creation that melts before your very eyes into a rich, creamy winter heater.
15. Gold Leaf Ice Cream
Location: Emirates Palace
If ever there was time for a gold leaf ice cream, it would be the Emirates Palace – the epitome of gilded glamour. This theme runs through some of its restaurant menus, such as Le Cafe, where the least likely place is gold, including its 23K gold ice cream.
16. Cupcake ATM
Location: Marsana, Hudariat Island
That’s exactly what it sounds like – a luxurious vending machine that lets you get Instalious muffins 24 hours a day. The ATM at Hudayriyat Island Adventure Park has a long list of cupcake varieties that can be deposited directly into your face. The pistachio and peanut butter cake definitely has some Emirati energy, but you can also choose from Oreos, saffron, lotus, blueberries, red velvet and carrots. Prices start from Dhs19.
17. Meals and desserts in the dark
Where: Fresh Basil in the Dark Restaurant
In a city so obsessed with luxury restaurants, how do you stand out from the crowd? You turn off the lights and give them nothing to appreciate at all. Abu Dhabi’s first dine-in-the-dark concept is certainly an experience to remember, and while the menu can be adjusted to suit all tastes, you don’t really know what you’re eating until the end. Even the staff must wear night vision goggles to make sure they don’t mistake your lap for a table.
