♦ Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is scheduled to give a concert 8 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Cure Insurance Arena, 81 Hamilton Ave., Trenton.
A specialist in Qawwali, a style of Sufi devotional singing, Rahat is the nephew of the legendary late Pakistani superstar Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

♦ The 1970s rock group Styx will bring four decades of hits to State Theatre New Jersey, 15 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7.
The group burst on the scene in the mid-’70s, scoring four triple-platinum albums in a row: The Grand Illusion (1977), Pieces of Eight (1978), Cornerstone (1979), and Paradise Theater (1981). Some of their best known hits include “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Mr. Roboto” and “Babe.”

♦ The Kingston Trio, the Brothers Four and the Limeliters will represent the “Trifecta of Folk” 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, 100 South St., Morristown.
Today’s Kingston Trio features Mike Marvin, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward, who all “have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group.” The outfit is known for such tunes as “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” and “Tom Dooley.”
The Brothers Four roster includes Mike McCoy, Karl Olsen, Mark Pearson and Bob Flick. Their noted songs include “Try to Remember” and “500 Miles.”
Formed in 1959, the Limeliters have no living original members. Its popular songs include “The Hammer Song” and “Red Roses and White Wine.”

♦ Grammy Award-winning superstar Anita Baker will bring her “Songstess Tour” to the Prudential Center, 25 Lafayette St., Newark, 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10.
Known for her soulful ballads, the 1980s-star Baker’s hit albums include “Rapture,” “Giving You the Best That I Got” and “The Songstress.”

♦ Heavy metal bands Quiet Riot and Vixen will share the bill 8 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, 30 N. Van Brunt St. Englewood.
Quiet Riot hit the scene in 1983 with the release of their album, “Metal Health,” which included a cover of Slade’s “Cum on Feel the Noize,” “Run for Cover” and “Bang Your Head.”
Vixen is an all-women band from St. Paul, Minnesota, featuring vocalist Janet Gardner, drummer Roxy Petrucci and bassist Share Ross.

♦ Pakistani pop and rock singer Sajjad Ali is scheduled to perform 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the Union County Performing Arts Center, 1601 Irving St., Rahway.

♦ Cellismo – Capital Philharmonic Chamber Concert will be presented 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the 1867 Sanctuary, 101 Scotch Road, Ewing.
The program of works by Bach, Shostakovich, Joplin and others will be performed by cellists Katrina Marie Kormanski, Elina Lang and Tomasz Rzeczychi, clarinetist John Kormanski and pianist Don Teneblatt.

♦ “Shore to Rock Hunger,” a concert to benefit Fulfill FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, will take place 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Count Basie Center for the Arts, 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank.
The show will feature performances by local musicians Jeff Kazee of Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes and Brian Kirk, with local radio personality Tom Cunningham.

♦ The epic Chinese dance company Shen Yun has returned to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 1 Cente St., Newark, with its latest production, “China Before Communism.”
Performances are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and 1 p.m. Sunday, May 7.

♦ Peak Performances this weekend presents the U.S. premiere of Greek choreographer Tzeni Argyriou’s “ANΩNYMO” at Montclair State University’s Alexander Kasser Theater on the campus, College Avenue and Red Hawk Road, Montclair.
The production “draws on traditional Greek dances from all over the world and reexamines the significance of physical connection in a world consumed by social media.”

♦ Pearl Cleage’s drama “Blues for an Alabama Sky” will open at McCarter Theatre, 91 University Place, Princeton, this weekend for a run through May 28.
The story revolves around a close-knit group of friends living in a Depression-era Harlem apartment building and their travails.

♦ Luna Stage, 555 Valley Road, West Orange, will present the world premiere of “Two Elizas” — “a new play about motherhood, loss and women’s rights” — starting Thursday, May 4, and running through May 14.
Written and performed by Jenny Mercein, “Two Elizas” explores the true story of the playwright’s ancestor, Eliza Mercein Barry, whose landmark 1847 U.S. Supreme Court case Barry v. Mercein established a woman’s right to retain custody of her child.

♦ The musical “The Prom” will make its New Jersey debut at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center, 100 Grant Ave., Deal Park, beginning with previews 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, May 6, then running through May 21.
The plot follows the unscripted adventures of a quartet of “Broadway has-beens who hop on a tour bus to infiltrate a small-town in Indiana with their New York values.”
The production is directed by Broadway actor and director Todd Buonopane and stars TV and stage veteran Vicki Lewis and John Scherer.

♦ Quiara Alegría Hudes’ “Water by the Spoonful” begins its run this weekend at the Eagle Theatre, 208 Vine St., Hammonton.
The drama tells of the struggles faced by a Marine veteran who returns from Iraq and is living back home in North Philly.

♦ New Jersey Repertory Company, 179 Broadway in Long Branch, will present the world premiere of “Our Shrinking, Shrinking World” beginning Thursday, May 4, and running through May 27.
Written by Richard Dresser and directed by Joe Cacaci, the play tells the story of a “psychotherapist with a climate-induced apocalyptic complex, a loose grasp of therapeutic technique, and a looser grasp of professional ethics.”

The juried show, presented in partnership with the Department of Art and Design at Montclair State University, opens Thursday, May 4, and will run through May 20. It will spotlight the thesis work of select graduating students.

♦ UFC — Ultimate Fighting Championship — will return to the Prudential Center in Newark 6 p.m. Saturday, May 6, with a bill headed by a match between UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and former champ Henry Cejudo.
Other bouts will match Bryce Mitchell against Jonathan Pearce; Kron Gracie vs. Charles Jourdain; Marina Rodriguez taking on Virna Jandiroba; and others.

♦ The third annual “Down and Derby” Wine Festival is scheduled for 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Veterans Island, Cooper River Park, 5300 N. Park Drive, Pennsauken.
The evening will feature wine tastings from various South Jersey wineries and entertainment from local legend Aunt Mary Pat DiSabatino, the Jersey Shore local band Secret Service, Derby-dressing contests, expert betting instruction and food trucks.

♦ The Burnham Park Association will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a free Family Fun Day in Burnham Park on Sunday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities will occur near the larger gazebo and the fireplace/picnic areas and extend to the trails on the “Green Strip” between East Lake/West Lake boulevards and Jones Woods.
