556 school bus drivers trained in STS Group’s Abu Dhabi School Bus Safety Drivers Campaign

Dubai: STS Group always puts the safety of its passengers and employees first. As a responsible transport operator, they actively conduct an extensive training program for all employees covering road safety practices and policies, soft skills and the STS Code of Conduct.

556 school bus drivers and 150 school bus guardians were trained during the launch of the Abu Dhabi campaign by GEMS Abu Dhabi United Indian Schools. At the event, senior management from Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), Abu Dhabi Police and STS Group exchanged ideas with hundreds of school bus drivers and school bus attendants/guardians on enhancing the safe operation of STS Group principles, Safe driving practices and traffic laws.

STS Group Managing Director Steve Burnell said: “The safety of our customers and employees will always be our number one priority. School bus safety starts with positive and professional driving behaviour. Safe driver movement is the key to ensuring The platform for our safe, timely values, intelligence resonates with every employee in the workforce.”

STS Group invests in state-of-the-art smart bus systems designed to ensure the safety of passengers and onboard staff, while school bus drivers and guardians remain key to school bus safety. The Safe Driving campaign focuses on the following key areas:

  1. Unblocked bus camera.
  2. Use your phone while driving.
  3. Mandatory use of seat belts.
  4. Alert contact process.
  5. Managing the effects of personal time and fatigue.
  6. Vehicle Parking Safety Procedures.

Thomas Edelmann, Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE, added: “Statistics show that more than 90% of road accidents occur due to human error. Responsible fleet operators like STS Group must continually educate their school bus drivers to anticipate other road users possible mistakes and keep training their defensive driving skills.”

Short and informative videos developed by STS Group on key safe driving practices are shown at the event. The video details “dos and don’ts” for safe driving and recommends safety protocols that school bus drivers must follow when riding the bus. Going forward, the event video will serve as a mentoring platform during employee training. A performance analysis platform has been developed to measure the effectiveness of training workshops.
