The Santa Barbara Symphony has announced its 2023/24 season, continuing its musical tradition of focusing on the transformative power of music.
Music and Artistic Director Nir Kabaretti, now in his 18th season with the Santa Barbara Symphony, has curated an eight-month musical journey that focuses on local, national and international talent, As well as community, collaboration and classical traditions.
“Each concert is designed to inspire the audience, creating moments of awe, connection and joy,” said Cabaretti. “This is an exciting time for me as artistic director and for our musicians, as tradition Symphonic music is inspired and influenced by different cultures and a wide range of contemporary musical genres.
“This season we span jazz, pop, opera, film scores and more while celebrating the classics. I can’t wait to share this journey and our amazing musicians with you,” he said.

“Symphony has something for everyone, and the new season gives us an unprecedented opportunity to continue to appeal to classical music lovers, as well as music lovers of all genres,” she said.
This season, the symphony will participate in the California Music Festival: A Celebration of New Music, a two-week statewide music festival featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic (Gustavo Dudamel), the San Francisco Symphony (ESA – Pekka Salonen) and the Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony. The San Diego Symphony (Rafael Payare), which includes more than 50 organizations and ensembles, will highlight many of today’s most compelling and forward-thinking composers.
Other highlights include guest performers, celebrations of hit Oscar films, and performances with members of the Santa Barbara Opera, Santa Barbara Choral Society, SBCC Quire of Voyces, Westmont College Choir and Santa Barbara Gay Chorus Creative Arts Collaboration.
Audiences will also hear live orchestral accompaniment to Street Ballet’s “Giselle” by the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra conducted by Cabaretti, outside of the normal line-up, and Van Mor with local rock band Doublewide Kings. Lisson holds a tribute concert.
All performances will take place at the Granada Theatre.
Seasonal subscriptions are on sale now, starting at $112 for a four-concert package and $184 for a full seven-concert package, which includes a free Beethoven 9.
