Budhanilkantha Dharmashala handed over to Nepalese authorities

Kathmandu [Nepal], July 5 (ANI): The Budhanilkantha Dharmashala, built with Indian assistance, has been handed over to Nepalese authorities in a ceremony on Wednesday. The building took two and a half years to complete since the foundation stone was laid on March 11, 2021.

The special ceremony held inside the temple was attended by Nepalese Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Deputy Head of Mission of India in Kathmandu Prasanna Shrivastava, Mathadhish of the temple and Nepalese MPs.

Speaking at the event, Nepali Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav said, “Nepal’s religious shrines are centers of meditation, contemplation and vision. That’s why the country is called knowledge, contemplation and meditation On this point, the Indian embassy has extended to help the Budhanilkantha area by building Dharmashala, which is really commendable. Therefore, I express my thanks and appreciation to the Government of India.”

The reconstruction of Dharmashala in Budhanilkantha is the third of 28 cultural heritage conservation and restoration projects that the Indian government has committed to rebuilding the cultural heritage sector with Rs 5.8 billion.

All 28 locations were identified by the Government of Nepal and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between India and Nepal in August 2017. The Central Project Implementation Unit (Building) of the National Redevelopment Authority (NRA) is the implementing agency. The Dharmashala of Budhanilkantha is expected to facilitate the pilgrims and tourists who visit this holy temple.

Speaking at the event, Prasanna Srivastava, deputy head of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, said: “Budhanilkantha Temple is one of the main religious places in Kathmandu. It is a great fortune for the Indian government to be involved in the construction and preservation process. Earlier, in With the help of India, Mathadish Bhawan was also built in the grounds of this temple in 2019. The Dharmashala inaugurated today cost 5 crore Nepalese rupees to build. This will facilitate the pilgrims who came to the temple in 2019. Here, because there are enough rooms and the required facilities.”
