Although violent crimes are rare in China, attacks on kindergartens have become prominent in recent years.

In August last year, there was an incident of wounding people with a knife in a preschool education in Jiangxi Province, killing 3 people and injuring many others; in 2021, a man killed 2 children and injured 16 people in a kindergarten in Guangxi.

Analysts say the incidents are often blamed on grudges or mental illness and often involve the use of knives. In China, the possession of most guns is illegal.
