“Full of lies”: Iran criticizes Israeli Prime Minister’s speech at the United Nations | Nuclear Energy News

Tehran, Iran Iran responded to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s speech at the UN General Assembly, accusing him of trying to spread “Iranophobia” and clean up Israeli operations in the entire region.

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht-Ravanch, said in a tweet on Tuesday that Bennett’s remarks were “full of lies.”

“That regime has no right to discuss our peace [nuclear] A plan with hundreds of nuclear warheads,” he wrote, adding that Bennett did not mention Palestine in his speech “showing his determination to deprive Palestine of its rights.”

In a speech on the last day of the UN General Assembly on Monday, the Israeli Prime Minister criticized Iran’s regional activities and support for the anti-Israel movement, claiming that Iran wants to dominate the region “under the nuclear umbrella.”

Bennett claimed that Iran’s nuclear program has reached a “watershed moment” and that “all red lines” have been crossed because the country has enriched uranium to 60% and “violated” the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards agreement.

At the same time, he called Israel “a beacon in the rough sea”, yearning for democracy and freedom, and hoping to build a better world.

In a statement, the Iranian mission to the United Nations called Bennett’s claims “baseless” and stated that he was trying to deceively put Israel in an innocent situation.

“His malicious goal is clear: cover up all the expansionist and destabilizing policies and criminal activities of the Israeli regime in the region in the past seven years,” it said.

The statement said that at the same time, Israel is an occupying power, turning the Gaza Strip into the world’s largest open-air prison, while Israeli leaders are engaged in “terrorist activities” in the area.

The Iranian delegation also criticized Israel for its continued refusal to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, while allegedly accumulating conventional and nuclear weapons.

The latest standoff between the main enemies of the region comes as the world powers of Iran’s 2015 nuclear agreement are trying to Reinstate the landmark agreement Despite strong opposition from Israel, former US President Donald Trump unilaterally gave up in 2018.

Six rounds of negotiations for the resumption of the agreement were concluded on July 20, and Iran stated that it would return to Vienna “soon” for negotiations. However, there are still many uncertainties to reach an agreement to lift the punitive sanctions on Iran and again control what it calls a completely peaceful nuclear program.

Iran and the global nuclear watchdog clashed over a nuclear issue on Sunday Disagreement on the joint statement They reached an agreement in Tehran earlier this month.

The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that Iran provided access to all necessary locations to repair monitoring equipment and replace its memory cards-except for a centrifuge manufacturing site in Karaj.

Iran stated that the site has never been bound by the agreement because it was the target of a destructive attack that was blamed on Israel in June, and security and judicial investigations are ongoing.

Russia’s top representative in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors that this does not constitute a violation of safeguards, but that Iran has partially implemented voluntary transparency measures.

“However, it is important to find a positive solution for the interests of Iran and the JCPOA,” he wrote on Twitter, referring to the nuclear agreement by its official name.
