A South African woman was found guilty by a New Zealand jury for murdering her three daughters. Lauren Anne Dickason killed her two-year-old twins and their six-year-old sister in September 2021, shortly after the family’s move from South Africa to Timaru.
The jury, consisting of eight women and four men, reached a majority verdict that Dickason was sane at the time of the murders.
Her husband discovered the children dead and his wife seriously injured after returning from a dinner.
The prosecution argued that Dickason was aware of the moral wrongness of her actions and charged her with murder.
The judge remanded her to a hospital psychiatric unit until sentencing.
