Russia: Drone Attack Injures 2, Disrupts 50 Flights in Moscow

Two injured as Ukrainian drone fragments, destroyed by Russian air defenses, hit a Moscow house. About 50 flights were disrupted in the capital due to Russia’s actions against Ukrainian drones.

The Ruzsky and Istrinsky districts were affected. Arrivals and departures at Moscow’s main airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky – were limited, impacting 45 passenger planes and 2 cargo planes, stated Rosaviatsia, the Russian aviation authority.

Officials have warned of potential disasters with military drones flying over the densely populated Moscow region of nearly 22 million people.

Drone attacks within Russia have surged since two drones were downed near the Kremlin in early May. Such strikes have become more frequent in recent months.

The influence of these drone attacks on Russian public opinion about the war remains uncertain.

Polls suggest that support for the military operation in Ukraine is high, around 75%, though the accuracy of polling in Russia is questionable.

Ukraine generally refrains from commenting on attacks within Russian territory, though satisfaction has been expressed by officials publicly.
