As the UAE National Day celebrations approach, the Abu Dhabi Police have released a set of traffic rules for the weekend festivities. Motorists are advised to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.
Key Traffic Rules and Tips: UAE National Day Celebrations
- Vehicle Decorations:
- Decorations should not alter the colors of vehicles.
- Vehicles must not be overloaded.
- Inappropriate Content:
- Writing offensive phrases or placing inappropriate stickers on vehicles is strictly prohibited.
- License Plates:
- Front and back license plates must remain visible and should not be obscured or covered.
- Use of Spray:
- The use of any type of spray by motorists, passengers, or pedestrians is prohibited.
- Reckless Driving:
- Reckless driving and performing stunts are completely prohibited.
- Rallies and Traffic Obstruction: UAE National Day Celebrations
- Motorists are prohibited from organizing rallies and must not obstruct traffic or block the way for others.
- Window and Windshield Covering:
- It is illegal to cover side windows, front, or rear windshields of the vehicle with stickers or front sunshades.
- Passenger Safety:
- Passengers must be securely seated inside the vehicle and should not ride on the trunk of a pickup truck or on top of a car.
- Speed Reduction:
- Reduce speeds near pedestrian crossings and exercise caution, especially in areas near parks and tourist spots.
- Motorcycle Safety:
- Motorcycle users are advised to wear helmets, use protective clothing, and ensure the safety of the bike, including headlights and tires.
Penalties for Violations: UAE National Day Celebrations
- Reckless driving may result in a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for 60 days.
- Using sprays on pedestrians or throwing waste from vehicles can lead to a Dh1,000 fine and 6 black points.
The Abu Dhabi Police also emphasized the importance of not using sprays, including party sprays, on pedestrians and urged motorists to refrain from littering while driving. Additionally, getting out of the window or sunroof is strongly discouraged for public safety.
