The entertainment world mourns the loss of South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, famed for his role in the Oscar-winning film ‘Parasite.’ His untimely death was confirmed by South Korea’s emergency office on Wednesday, as he was found lifeless in a car at a central Seoul park.

Earlier in the day, Lee was discovered unconscious at an undisclosed location in Seoul, prompting an active search by the police. Reports from South Korean media, including Yonhap news agency, suggested that Lee’s family had reported his departure, expressing concerns after he left a message resembling a suicide note.

International Acclaim for ‘Parasite’ Role: Lee Sun-kyun

Lee Sun-kyun gained international acclaim for portraying the head of a wealthy family in ‘Parasite.’ His stellar contribution to the film earned him a Screen Actors Guild award in 2021 for “cast in a motion picture.”

In addition to his ‘Parasite’ success, Lee received a nomination for Best Actor at the International Emmy Awards for his role in the sci-fi thriller ‘Dr. Brain’ the previous year.
