UAE: Tracking down big ticket winners; 40 expats will share 10 million dirhams-News

Indian expatriate Naheel Nizamudeen, the winner of Abu Dhabi’s 10 million dirhams, finally found his trace this morning.

“Usually 10 to 15 people buy tickets. Since we have not won in the past few years, we have expanded our team to 40 people. We have nearly 37 to 38 Indians, all from Kerala, and 2 to 3 People are from Bangladesh. You never know who is lucky,” Shinoy said on the phone.

The winning ticket number 278109 was purchased in the name of Naheel. But the contact number given is his Indian number, which is inactive on his Qatar mobile phone. As a result, the incoming call was blocked.

The other number belongs to his father. He only contacted today and gave it to the Qatari contact of the organizer Naheel.

“We watched the live broadcast. We realized that we won. We are waiting for official calls because we have been receiving a lot of fake calls in the past. Today we received calls and emails from Big Ticket. Our lives have changed,” Shinoy, who has worked in the UAE, said.

All members work in different departments of the hypermarket—accounting, purchasing, sales, and manager—are facing financial crises.

“We all come from middle-class families and all have financial problems. Therefore, this jackpot has secured the future of 40 families. Our core members are Rasak Alungal, Alikutty, Subash Somasekaran, Abdul Kadher,” Shinoy said.

This is the second time the Qatar team has won this year. In August, a group of 20 Indian expatriates from Qatar Won 15 million dirhams.
