On Saturday, October 23, 2021, TEDxAlQuoz will launch its first event with the theme of “Humanity and Interdependence”, aiming to reflect the current spirit of people through a series of fascinating speeches, artistic performances and networking opportunities. The event will be held in the “Warehouse No. 4” in Al Quoz District from 4pm to 8pm. Tickets will be sold on the event website in the first week of October.
The independently produced event is operated under the permission of TED, organized by volunteers, and aims to create a forum that stimulates and inspires dialogue between the Dubai community through thought-provoking conversations. The event was produced with the support of the venue partner Warehouse Four and the cultural partner Dubai Culture and Arts Bureau.
Some of the speakers that guests can expect to see on stage include athlete and Guinness World Record holder Dareen Barbar, award-winning photographer Waleed Shah, survival skills coach Arnaud Laviolette, sustainable fashion influencer Amanda Rushforth and famous psychologist Saliha Dr. Afridi. Many artists, including UAE singer Arqam, also plan to perform at this event.
Commenting on the theme of the event, organizer and curator Rihane Hassaine said: “TEDxAlQuoz aims to rediscover the meaning of interdependence within society and encourage reflection on how we can cultivate a spirit rooted in modern society and contributing to society. Changes occur on a local, regional and global scale.”
TedxAlQuoz will showcase another platform to further attract, support and retain talent in the region and ensure that everyone in the Emirate of Dubai has access to culture. This is in line with the strategy of Dubai Culture, which aims to strengthen the emirate’s position as a comprehensive and vibrant center for creative people from all over the world and position it as a coveted destination for all art and culture lovers, as well as a center for creativity and cultural dialogue .
