Dubai Chamber of Commerce webinar discusses the impact of advanced technology on road safety – Dubai Blog

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Development Network Road Safety Task Force recently organized a webinar. Member companies, industry experts and technology providers participated in the seminar to raise awareness of road safety in the local business community.

The virtual event called “Achieving Safe Driving on Roads Through Advanced Technology” was attended by 124 participants from 60 companies in the UAE. Presentations and discussions during the event focused on technical tools and methods that can be incorporated into road safety management and practice.

The webinar included a speech by STS Group Managing Director Steve Burnell; William Frank Newman, MiX Telematics Middle East and Asia Enterprise Sales Manager; Naveen Sook, Daimler Commercial Vehicle MENA Fleet Manager; Savefast Fire and Safety Training Co., Ltd. driver Training manager Ian Littlefield and Swvl business Taas global head Shahzeb Memon.

The speaker shared valuable insights on improving traffic through emerging technologies, using artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve a safer fleet, improving the level of truck technology related to road safety, as well as psychological measurement evaluation and in-vehicle behavior training.

According to Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director of the Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Department of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, advanced technology may help prevent road accidents by providing solutions such as smart applications, smart sensors or detectors, smart signs, and night vision. Systems, gadgets And artificial intelligence. He pointed out that according to the World Health Organization, about 1.35 million people die in traffic accidents globally each year.

“Since the Dubai Chamber of Commerce Sustainability Network established the Road Safety Working Group in 2014, it has been raising awareness of key road safety issues through seminars, workshops and events that have benefited thousands of employees in member companies. The working group promotes responsible and sustainable practices and improves the company’s reputation,” said Dr. Retab.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Development Network Road Safety Task Force includes 27 member companies. The Samsung Group leads the working group, while the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) and UAE Road Safety provide support as knowledge partners.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Development Network was established by the Chamber of Commerce Center for Responsible Business (CRB). It is a focal point for the business community to share and exchange best practices in the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. The network provides opportunities for local companies to build networks, learn, share experiences and build corporate social responsibility leadership.
