Abu Dhabi Shuts Down Al Domyati Snacks for Repeated Food Safety Violations
Food safety authorities in Abu Dhabi have ordered the closure of a restaurant after inspectors found repeated violations that posed a serious risk to public health. The move is part of an ongoing crackdown on non-compliant food establishments across the emirate. The message is clear: violations will not be tolerated.
According to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), the eatery — identified as Al Domyati Snacks – L.L.C – O.P.C (branch) — was shut down following multiple breaches of food safety regulations. The restaurant is located in Al Aamerah in the Al Ain region. The closure was effective immediately.
Officials stated that the closure decision was taken after the establishment failed to comply with Law No. (2) of 2008, which governs food safety standards in Abu Dhabi. Despite repeated inspections and warnings, the restaurant did not implement the necessary corrective measures required to meet health and safety guidelines. The non-compliance was persistent.
Authorities emphasized that the violations were not minor but significant enough to endanger consumer health. The food safety authority noted that continued non-compliance and unsafe practices necessitated immediate intervention to protect the public. Consumer safety is the top priority.
The closure of the Al Ain-based outlet is not an isolated case. In recent days, multiple restaurants across Abu Dhabi have faced similar action due to violations of food safety rules. Just a day earlier, another establishment — Lailak Fish Monger — was shut down after inspectors found repeated breaches and a failure to rectify issues flagged during earlier inspections. The pattern is concerning.
Earlier in the same week, Amina Restaurant on Zayed the First Street was also ordered to close after inspection reports revealed ongoing violations and an inability to meet required safety standards. Authorities described the conditions at the restaurant as posing a “serious risk to public health,” prompting swift enforcement action. The risk was deemed imminent.
Additionally, Desert Breeze Cafe in the Al Dhafra region was recently closed for similar reasons. Officials said the cafe had repeatedly violated food safety regulations and failed to take corrective action despite warnings, further highlighting a pattern of non-compliance among certain establishments. The crackdown is ongoing.
These repeated closures underline the strict stance taken by Abu Dhabi authorities when it comes to food safety. The ADAFSA conducts regular inspections of food outlets across the emirate to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards. Businesses found violating these rules face penalties ranging from warnings and fines to temporary or permanent closure. The regulations are enforced rigorously.
Authorities reiterated that such enforcement measures are essential to maintaining high food safety standards and safeguarding the health of residents and visitors. They also stressed that establishments can resume operations only after addressing all violations and meeting regulatory requirements. Reopening is conditional on compliance.
The food safety authority continues to urge restaurant owners and operators to adhere strictly to hygiene protocols and ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of food. Failure to do so not only risks penalties but also damages public trust. Reputation is at stake.
Residents have also been encouraged to play a role in maintaining food safety standards by reporting any suspected violations. Officials have provided dedicated channels for complaints, enabling quick inspection and action where necessary. Public cooperation is valued.
The recent wave of closures highlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to ensuring that all food establishments operate within the framework of the law. By taking decisive action against violators, authorities aim to create a safer dining environment and reinforce accountability within the food service industry. The message is being heard.

As inspections continue across the emirate, businesses are being reminded that compliance is not optional but a critical responsibility — one that directly impacts public health and safety. The law will be upheld without exception.
