Etihad Rail Dubai Station Opens September 30: Routes, Travel Time and What to Expect

Etihad Rail Dubai Station Opens September 30

The Etihad Rail Dubai Station is scheduled to open on September 30, 2026, marking a major step in the expansion of passenger rail services across the UAE.

The station, located in the Al Yalayis area near Jumeirah Golf Estates and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, will give Dubai residents a new option for travelling between the emirates. It will form part of Etihad Rail’s national passenger network, which is being introduced in phases.

Etihad Rail Dubai Station Routes and Travel Times

The new Dubai station will connect passengers with destinations across the UAE as the passenger network expands. Dubai will have a direct rail connection with Abu Dhabi, while the wider network will also provide access to other emirates. Some of the announced journey times include:

  • Dubai to Abu Dhabi: Around 57 minutes
  • Dubai to Fujairah: Around 69 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: Around 105 minutes

These journey times are designed to make inter-emirate travel more convenient and provide an alternative to road travel. Actual travel times may vary depending on the service and route.

Dubai Station to Connect With Dubai Metro

The location of the station is also important for passengers using public transport within Dubai. The Etihad Rail station is being linked with the existing Dubai Metro network through a pedestrian connection to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line.

This connection will allow passengers to combine rail and metro services as part of the same journey. It could also make the station more accessible for residents who do not want to drive to the railway.

The location near major roads will additionally provide access for passengers travelling to the station by car or other forms of transport.

What Passengers Can Expect on Etihad Rail

Etihad Rail’s passenger trains are being designed for comfortable long-distance travel between the UAE’s main population centres. Passengers can expect reserved seating along with onboard connectivity and charging facilities. Key facilities include:

  • Reserved passenger seating
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Power outlets at seats
  • Modern train interiors
  • Access to multiple UAE destinations as the network expands

The passenger network will continue to grow after the Dubai opening. Additional stations are expected to join the network in stages, expanding the number of destinations available to passengers.

What the September 30 Opening Means for Dubai

The opening of the Etihad Rail Dubai Station will give residents another option for travelling outside the emirate. The Dubai-Abu Dhabi connection is particularly significant because the two cities have some of the UAE’s busiest inter-emirate travel demand.

As more stations become operational, Etihad Rail is expected to provide wider connections between major cities and communities across the country.

For Dubai passengers, September 30 will therefore mark the beginning of direct access to the UAE’s national passenger railway from a dedicated station in the emirate.
