MasterCard is the official payment technology partner of Expo 2020 Dubai. It has partnered with Women Fusion, the region’s largest female-owned corporate network, to create opportunities for female entrepreneurs at the world’s largest cultural gathering.
This collaboration will bring about a series of knowledge sharing, networking and mentoring activities for women-owned companies, aimed at enhancing and educating them, developing and expanding their businesses, and integrating them into the evolving digital economy. This series of activities aimed at accelerating women’s influence on creating a better world will be held in cooperation with Cartier in the Women’s Pavilion before the 2020 World Expo. Virtual seminars will also be held during these six months.
The alliance will invite well-known guests, including Sarah Beydoun, founder and creative director of a Lebanese fashion company with social influence; Ioanna Angelidaki, co-founder of Instashop; and Maureen Hall, founder and CEO of the sunwear brand. These seminars will give entrepreneurs valuable skills to enable them to achieve digitalization and digital development in the enterprise.
According to the first Mastercard MEA SME Confidence Index, 81% of women entrepreneurs in the region have digital businesses in their companies, compared with 68% of their male counterparts. In terms of the digital footprint of female entrepreneurs in the region, social media (71%) leads, followed by company websites (57%).
