Travel technology startup utu announced a partnership with Emirates Skywards (Emirates and flydubai’s award-winning loyalty program) to disrupt the value-added tax refund industry. Emirates is the first airline in the world to offer tax-free shopping incentives.

The industry’s first utu Tax Free app gives travelers the opportunity to increase their tax refund amount by 25% and earn 4,167 Skywards for every $100 spent on any value-added tax or consumption tax refund in 50 countries/regions mileage. Shoppers need to download the app, register for a virtual utu tax-free card and use the card number on any tax-free form to earn Skywards Miles.

4. For shopping in any store in 50 countries/regions, on any VAT refund form, enter the 16-digit UTU tax refund card number in the credit card tax refund field.Follow the instructions of the VAT refund operator to go through customs procedures
5. Once the VAT refund operator has processed the refund, utu will notify the member of the number of Skywards miles to be credited
6. Skywards Miles will be credited within 10 working days after the processing of the VAT refund
