About 66 years ago, in 1955, Dr. Kazim was qualified as the first surgeon (Orthopedics) in the UAE.Not only because of his Serve patients wholeheartedly, But also loved because of having a heart of gold.

To mourn this passing away, his daughter Dr. Helia Kazim, a well-known professional breast surgeon, paid high respects to her father on social media.

She wrote: “My father—a master of anatomy and a versatile surgeon—has almost no sense of direction outside the human body. My entire childhood was filled with him pointing me to various landmarks.’When you see the trade center At time, follow this road. It will take you home” and “This tree (on the prairie!) is the tree closest to home”.

He hardly knew that he was my landmark. The one I looked at when I was lost. The one I looked for when I needed guidance. Yesterday, my landmark left his heaven. When it’s time to go home, I hope I can hear his voice again. “

Dr. Kazim is one of the pioneer orthopedic surgeons in the UAE, and started serving the community after completing the MBBS of the University of Mumbai.

He is from Dubai and completed his studies at Francis Xavier and Grant School of Medicine in Mumbai. While in medical school, India split, which meant that he could not stay in Mumbai.

Since there were no major hospitals in Dubai to work at that time, Dr Houriya said that her father applied for various jobs around the world, including the Abadan oil fields in Iran, Aden and Brazil.

His first job was as a wounded at the Port of Spain (POS) General Hospital in Trinidad, West Indies.

Eventually, he went to London for training as an orthopedic specialist, married Sultana Faruk and gave birth to his first daughter, Dr. Houriya.

“He was the first UAE surgeon to receive a 1958 Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and 1960 Royal College of Surgery Scholarships in England,” she said.

In the summer of 1962, Dr. Kazim returned to Trinidad with his wife and eldest daughter. He continued to work at the POS General Hospital and his private orthopedic clinic until he returned to the UAE in 1977.

Testimony of a patient

NP, a Dubai resident, recalled her brief but unforgettable experience with Dr. Kazim and said that she went to his clinic after a sprained foot.

“As a doctor and gentleman, I found Dr. Kazim to speak very gentle, reassuring, and very proficient in his subject. He gave me simple and effective advice and exercises,” she said.

To this day, she still remembers that he advised her not to take supplements, saying that the food in the UAE is rich and varied enough to meet a person’s nutritional needs.

She said: “I have consulted him twice, and I will always have fond memories of the character of this fascinating Emirati, and his legacy will continue to exist.”

Linda is a registered nurse who closed after retirement in 2019 before Dr. Kazim was in charge of the clinic in Dubai. She said that she started her career in Dubai with the help of the late doctor career.

“From 2009 to 2019, I worked under Dr. Kazim for 10 years. I must say that this was a very rich experience because I not only learned about the medical profession he is good at, but also learned how to treat patients selflessly. He will not only treat his patients medically, but also support them psychologically and guide them,” she said.

When she first came to the clinic, Linda hadn’t obtained a nurse’s license. But Dr. Kazim guided her through the whole process and even helped her specifically. His kindness extended to all the staff, Linda said they were treated like family members.

“He even invites us home from time to time. We also maintain a friendly relationship with all his family members. After the clinic closed in 2019, we still keep in touch with them.

“His family helped all of us find jobs in our new workplace and made sure that we were settled. He and his family never left us, but stayed with us and protected us like they did. After being introduced to me After that, I truly experienced the culture and hospitality of the UAE, Dr. Qazim and his family,” she said.

Dr. Amit Basiya, a family doctor who has worked with Dr. Qazim for more than 35 years, recalled Dr. Qazim and praised his expertise: “I worked with Dr. Qazim from 1987 to 2019. He is a very kind and supportive human being, I would say he is a real gem. His diagnosis was on the spot and he is known for his perfection. People will come from regulators such as Saudi Arabia and Oman — consult him because of his The diagnosis is excellent.”
