Sierra Leone held a flag-raising ceremony during the 2020 Dubai Expo and celebrated its National Day on the national stage at Al Wasl Square.
The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Mada Bio, accompanied by the First Lady Fatima Mada Bio, received the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mu, Commissioner of Expo 2020 Dubai. Welcome to Barak Al Nahyan.
Cultural performances include poetry readings by children’s ambassador, poet, actress and musician Wilma Knuckles, a children’s activist; and Rozzy Sokota, Khadison Duwai and Andrew James’ comments on “Strange Grace” Touching interpretation.
Maada Bio said: “I extend my warmest congratulations to the distinguished UAE government and its people, and thank them for showing how a better future is possible. It is in this spirit that I urge all countries to strengthen partnerships, dialogue and Cooperation because the world is dealing with the economic impact of Covid-19, especially among our smaller African economies.”
The Sierra Leone Pavilion, located in the Opportunity Zone, has the theme of “New Beginning”, leading tourists on a journey to a West African country rich in natural resources.
Sheikh Nahyan said: “Sierra Leone’s participation in this Expo will give us a unique understanding of what this wonderful country and its friendly people have to offer.
“It also allows us to learn more about Sierra Leone as a future-oriented country, seeking unique historical, cultural and investment opportunities for new partnerships for sustainable development.”
The National Day of Expo 2020 Dubai is a time to celebrate each of the more than 200 international participants, showcase their culture and achievements, and showcase their pavilions and programs.
