New bike lanes and huge island racing tracks are coming soon

Abu Dhabi is now officially designated as Asia’s first “Bicycle City”…

Yesterday (Tuesday, November 2nd) will be a day that will be remembered forever by cyclists in the capital.

The launch of Bike Abu Dhabi is not just an excuse for stepping on spandex and rotating pedals around the beautiful urban landscape — it is a platform that has made some profound and meaningful promises to the recent improvement of urban bicycles; and has been carried out. The work was recognized, making Abu Dhabi the first Asian city to receive the title of “Bicycle City”.

This honor awarded by the International Cycling Union (UCI) was awarded by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan-which means that Abu Dhabi has joined Paris and Copenhagen And York and other respected city bicycle companies.

Track changes

Bike Abu Dhabi is both a verb and a campaign noun. The Emirates will have some exciting bicycle developments worth looking forward to in the near future.

Officials confirmed plans to build a huge 109-kilometer-long Abu Dhabi ring road-an “isolated bicycle lane connecting the city’s major destinations.”

Further construction concepts to be launched include the construction of a 3,500-person racetrack on Hudayriyat Island, which is already very suitable for cycling (water bike trails, outdoor BMX tracks, multiple island tourist routes).

Once completed, Velodrome Hudayriyat is expected to provide more marginal revenue for the country’s sports facilities.

Pedals and medals

There is also news about upcoming matches to Abu Dhabi, including the one-day amateur athletics tournament Abu Dhabi Al Ain Classic that will begin in 2022.

Abu Dhabi has also been confirmed as the host city of the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in 2022 and 2024, as well as the exciting prospect of becoming the venue for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2028.
