Mira promises to return to Dubai’s “Magnificent” Expo 2020 on Cameroon Day in March – Dubai Blog

“I really appreciate the warm reception and hospitality of the Dubai Sports Commission,” said Mira, who served as a member of the Cameron national team at the three FIFA World Cups in 1982, 1990 and 1994. Mira became a global football icon in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. At the age of 38, he scored four goals to help Cameroon become the first African team to enter the World Cup quarter-finals. Four years later, 42-year-old Mira made a layup in the 1994 FIFA World Cup against Russia, breaking his record as the oldest scorer in the World Cup.

Mira, 69, hopes that his “very talented” 14-year-old son will also reach the top, he has just studied at a football academy in Dubai.

“My son Jaime is a very talented football player,” Mira said. “A few months ago, I met Michel Salgado [the former Spain and Real Madrid star] In Morocco, he told me about his academy in Dubai, Fursan Hispania and his projects, and urged me to send his son here.

“My brother lives in Dubai, so I think it’s a good idea. Two months ago, my son attended the college in Salgado.”
