An innovative solution that enables people to grow healthy agricultural products at home has taken center stage in the World Food Day commemoration at the 2020 Dubai Expo. The HydroArtPod smart garden, controlled by an application developed by a startup company in Masdar City, was the only technology product displayed during the events held under the People and Earth Program of the World Expo.
HydroArtPod is developed by byAlinePate, headquartered in Masdar City, a technology start-up company that is incubating in The Catalyst, the region’s first sustainability-focused start-up accelerator. Automated equipment requires minimal user effort, while reducing reliance on chemicals, packaging and transportation in the supply chain, ensuring a stable supply of fresh produce, and minimizing food waste. Visitors to the event can learn how easy it is to grow healthy fruits and vegetables at home.
Richard Pate, the founder and CEO of the startup, also participated in a panel discussion on growing better food and how this has a positive impact on the environment.

HydroArtPod users can also easily grow edible and decorative flowers at home. HydroArtPod can be installed on the wall of the home for easy access and also looks like a work of art.
