British artist Tom Butler is known for his eye-catching collages, which will be exhibited at the Mestalia Gallery in December this year. His exhibition “IconiCity” is dedicated to Dubai and its iconic skyline; the city’s best architectural achievements are captured through his image creation.
At first glance, Butler’s work is a contemporary representative of some of Dubai’s most famous urban landscapes, but the second and third eyes have rich, detailed and often humorous narratives.
Butler created this narrative through professional characterization; the person occupying his scene, a stylized representative of society often compared to LS Lowry, complements and modernizes Butler’s collages.
This type of collage in the form of a series of materials: newspaper texts, crosswords, slogans or a word, layered scenes into his work, added depth and intrigue, and allowed people to connect with the work.
His Dubai paintings attempt to portray the city in an unprecedented way through commercial art-a person who recognizes its tradition and modernism, harmonizes the old and the new, and connects with various audiences: residents, tourists and even children like to find them in art Something to recognize.
The exhibition will display original and printed versions, including: Luminocity, Golden Glow, Moor to Life, Hide and Souk and Marina Lights.
