Kim Kardashian West did not give up defending prisoner Julius Jones. As the death penalty is scheduled for Thursday, Kim shared the latest news on Twitter. The execution of Julius in Oklahoma has begun. His family has received an invitation for state punishment. So far, Governor Kevin Stitt has no news about Julius’ verdict.
“I want to give you an update on Julius Jones,” King wrote. “We are all anxiously awaiting Governor Stitt’s decision. He can choose to accept the parole board’s recommendation (for the second time) to grant Julius Clemency/Life w. Parole or the possibility of him being executed on Thursday the 18th.”
Convicted of murder
As previously reported, Julius is in Death row for murder Paul Howell in July 1999. Paul, an insurance director, was shot dead in the driveway of his parents’ house. His sister and two young daughters witnessed the criminal activity.
Julius has been in prison since he was 19 years old. According to the TSR investigation, he has been on death row since he was convicted and sentenced in 2002. He insisted on his innocence and won supporters like Kim Kardashian.
The recommendation Kim mentioned was issued by the Oklahoma State Pardon and Parole Commission on November 1. This is the second time that the committee has presented the verdict between September and November.
“The Pardon and Parole Committee has voted twice in favor of reducing the death penalty of Julius Jones, admitting the serious mistakes that led to his conviction and sentence of death,” said Amanda Bass, Julius Jones’ chief attorney. We hope that Governor Stitt will exercise his power to accept the committee’s recommendations and ensure that Oklahoma will not execute an innocent person. “
Execution process in Oklahoma
In Kim’s Twitter post, she broke down the execution process in Oklahoma. She said that Julius has allegedly been in death observation for more than two weeks. Apparently, he was also in a cell just a few feet away from the executioner’s room. Julius also “underwent a strip examination, X-ray examination, and handed out a new set of clothes, shoes, mattresses and bedding.”
In addition, it was reported that Julius was “closely monitored by the staff” so that everything he ate and drank was recorded. He cataloged all his personal property and designated it, as well as who would receive his body after his scheduled death.
“The state is committed to revenge, and they will do everything they can to ensure that Julius is killed-including resurrecting him in the event of a cardiac arrest before his execution.”
King went on to explain that Julius’ organs were not eligible for donations. She talked about the inspector general collecting body bags and tags and choosing witnesses to be executed. Julius’ phone privileges will end at 9pm on Thursday. He will receive the last meal and “be checked every 15 minutes during the last four hours of his life.”
“This is the cruel machine of American death penalty,” Kim wrote. “In just over two weeks, an innocent person may be executed. I am heartbroken for Julius and many others who have suffered such a tragic misjudgment.
