Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, confirmed that women should have more opportunities to give full play to leadership and practice in any role they aspire to.

He added that women must have access to high-quality education, valuable careers, a satisfying family life, and a prominent role in public and private life.

He also pointed out that men and women still have a lot of work and efforts to build a world of equality between men and women, a world that values ​​abilities and values ​​regardless of gender, and a world that welcomes, protects, educates, and empowers all women.

This was held during the opening of the International Conference on “Tolerance and Inclusiveness for Women’s Empowerment” organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in collaboration with the UAE Gender Balance Commission and the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The conference consisted of two sessions. The first discussed the role of social norms in closing the gender gap and ways to instill values ​​of tolerance and coexistence. The speakers were British Baroness Floyla Karen Eunice Benjamin and Swiss International Committee of the Red Cross President Peter Maurer, while Benita Diop, founder and chairman of the Senegal African Women’s Solidarity Foundation, introduced her experience in empowering women. Africa.

The second session emphasized the importance of tolerance, coexistence, tolerance and equality in supporting the most vulnerable groups in rebuilding a stable society. Speaking at this conference were Code on the Road-Greece founder Aya Bourouila and Afghan freelance photographer and artist Rada Akbar and others.

Sheikh Nahyan said at the opening of the meeting: “It’s a pleasure to host this Women’s Rights and Empowerment Conference with you. I extend my warmest greetings to all of you. You gathered in a region where women’s rights and gender equality are recognized. A leading country.”

Sheikh Nahyan also stated that since the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan founded the union fifty years ago, UAE leaders have encouraged and supported women to participate fully and equally in our society.

“His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is committed to shaping a country that empowers women. He has always believed that the advancement of women is important to the future of the UAE It’s vital, and we work methodically to expand the role of women in our country’s leadership,” he added.

“As everywhere in the world, achieving gender equality in the UAE is still a work we are fully committed to,” Sheikh Nahyan said.

“Unfortunately, in some parts of the world, there is little or insufficient change. In some places, women still suffer from unequal treatment. This inequality takes many forms, including social, economic, legal, health, and representative individuals Safety and life itself are at risk,” he added.

“I fully agree with the purpose of this conference, especially its aim to build a bridge between men and women around the world around women’s rights and empowerment,” he added.

Sheikh Nahyan (Sheikh Nahyan) said at the end of the speech: “I hope that your work, as well as the work of well-meaning men and women around the world, will lead to the renaming of future conferences. At that time, when women and men have equal opportunities and the same I expect to convene a global conference called “Human Development and Empowerment” when it comes to the rights of people, equal pay for equal work, and equal guarantees in terms of safety, education, and healthcare.”

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Gender Balance Committee, said: “Tolerance and Inclusion Week is part of the UAE framework and a product of the UAE’s global position in this field. The UAE has demonstrated to the world a unique tolerance, coexistence and cultural integration. The model is based on the method established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continued under the wise leadership of the UAE.”
