International artists use cross stitch to recreate the Expo 2020 Dubai logo – Dubai Blog

[ad_1]

Farida Talaat, an international artist and long-time resident of Dubai, recently created a cross-stitch artwork depicting the new official logo of Expo 2020 Dubai to double celebrate the two milestones of the UAE in 2021; the iconic Dubai 2020 World Expo and the Golden Jubilee “50 Years” in the UAEday‘.

The pinpoint creation is a detailed depiction of the concentric circles and rings of the logo. The outline is outlined with thousands of fine needles on a white background and the outline is outlined with a golden frame.

“The 2020 Dubai Expo and the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE are important moments. The city and the countryside are the real connecting hubs of the region and the world, and I think this logo reflects this very well,” she added.

Farida is an Egyptian-Canadian expatriate who has lived, studied and worked in the UAE for more than 16 years. She created this artwork to admire her new home. “During my diaspora here, I have seen Dubai develop into a truly global city, and the UAE has become an influential leading country on a global scale,” she said. “This is how I emphasize and celebrate this achievement.”

This aesthetic artwork uses intricate cross-stitch and embroidery, woven through a special perforated fabric called Aïda. The color of the thread fades from the bronzed brown on the outside to the bright yellow in the center, and is inlaid on a custom round wooden belt. middle.

It took more than six months to make this artwork, starting with depicting the logo, selecting and testing thread colors, sewing by hand, and finally mounting it. “The most difficult part is to choose a line that is exactly the same color as the original design and make the interior look almost bright.” Farida said.

“Art and creativity are the core of a country’s cultural identity and progress. Living in Dubai and the UAE has given me unlimited inspiration,” she added, because she hopes to see her work in the 2020 Dubai Expo until March 2022 Participate in cultural activities during the period.

This is the artist’s second project in recent years around Expo 2020 Dubai. Earlier, Farida used buttons to create a work of art for the logo before Expo 2020 Dubai; the turquoise blue arabesque nine-pointed star, she used buttons, beads, bows and other ornaments to embellish it.
