The UAE’s election campaign will begin on July 25, when Saif bin Futtais will participate in a flying saucer shooting competition
Swimmer Yousuf Al Matrooshi led the UAE delegation to participate in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.
Al Matrooshi will make his Olympic debut in the swimming pool while participating in the 100-meter freestyle competition. He is the UAE flag bearer at the Tokyo opening ceremony.
Shehab Ahmed Al Fahim, UAE Ambassador to Japan, and Azza bint Suleiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, attended the opening ceremony.

Futtais is a two-time ISSF World Cup medalist. He also represented the country in the 2016 Rio Olympics. He will hope to win his first Olympic medal.
The best performance of the UAE at the Summer Olympics was in the 2004 Athens Olympics, when Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum won the gold medal in the shooting double trap event.
At the same time, the two judo players of the UAE team, Victor Svotov and Ivan Remarenko, will be determined to achieve their best results on the judo mat in Tokyo.
Scvortov, the bronze medalist at the 2014 World Judo Championships and the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, will defend the colors of the UAE in the 73 kg competition on July 26.
Remarenko, the bronze medalist at the 2014 World Judo Championships, will participate in the over 100 kg competition on July 30.
Nasser Al Tamimi, secretary general of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation, said that he is confident in the opportunities of the two UAE judo athletes in Tokyo.
“Scvortov and Remarenco are progressing well and are ready to achieve their best results in Tokyo. We want to replicate what Judo has achieved in Rio,” Altamimi said, referring to Sergio Toma in Rio 2016 The bronze medal won for the UAE at the Olympics.
In the track and field competition, the UAE sprinter Hassan Arnobi will participate in the 100m race on July 31.
Ahmed Al Tayeb, head of the UAE delegation in Tokyo, said that the country’s athletes will spare no effort to provide unforgettable performances.
“We have not promised anything fair. We are hopeful about the progress made by Futtais, Scvortov and Remarenco. They all have experience in the highest level of competition,” Taye Bu said at a press conference.
