according to ABC 7 News DC, Andrew Peters from Richmond shared that he charged a total of $600 from Uber on Tuesday. He said he was on his way home, taking an Uber from Dulles International Airport. After being trapped for nine hours, he paid a $200 bill as soon as he got home. However, he said that the ride-sharing app also charged him an additional $400.
Uber later promised Peters a refund. The company said in a statement, “After this terrible ordeal, we have refunded Mr. Peters’ money, and we are glad that he and his Uber driver returned home safely.”
The news media did point out that Uber’s website did point out, “Traffic congestion may cause your trip to be longer than expected, and to compensate your driver for the extra time, your fare may change.”
