Pop superstar Robbie Williams will headline this year’s AFL Finals entertainment.
The 48-year-old singer is one of the most well-known musicians of the past 25 years, with compositions such as Angel and Let me entertain you.
Williams will perform at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday 24 September.
“I’m excited to perform for all the fans on the MCG’s hallowed lawn for the biggest game of the year,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with a very talented group of local Australian musicians and I can’t wait to see you on the last Saturday of September.
“If it goes well, I might even raise my hand to be the next chief executive of the AFL.”

With pregame entertainment on Finals day disrupted by the coronavirus for the past two seasons, the addition of Williams to this year’s game is a big deal.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said there was no better entertainer than Williams for a raucous stadium with 100,000 seats.
“We’re back at MCG, back in front of 100,000 fans, and there’s no better performer than Robbie Williams to help amplify the atmosphere ahead of the biggest sporting event in the country,” he said.
