Expo Dubai showcases a range of new assistive technologies

Beginning November 15, Dubai will showcase the widest and most impressive range of innovative assistive technology products at the Middle East’s largest exhibition for persons with disabilities for three days. The expo will focus on accessible products and services to empower 27 people with disabilities.

The Accessibility Expo (AAE) in three spacious halls at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will be the largest platform for manufacturers of accessible products, distributors, government entities, and medical and educational centres dealing with persons with disabilities.

According to its organizers, the business and consumer-focused platform, which will be held for the fourth time, is the answer to the wishes and expectations of more than 50 million people with disabilities living in the Middle East and North African (Mena) country, Nadd Al Shiba PR and event management.

The organizers expect more than 250 companies and medical rehabilitation centers from government and private institutions from 50 countries to participate. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), today only one in 10 people in need has access to assistive technology due to high costs, lack of awareness and availability, lack of trained personnel, ineffective policies and mismatched funding. Assistive technology is an umbrella term covering systems and services related to the provision of assistive products and services.

Assistive products maintain or improve the functioning and independence of individuals, thereby promoting their well-being. Hearing aids, wheelchairs, communication aids, glasses, prosthetics, pill organizers and memory aids belong to the range of assistive products.
