Mashreq Abdulla Al Ghurair Educational Foundation Partnership

Mashreq Bank has signed a strategic partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Educational Foundation to support its recently launched Nomu initiative.

The multi-sectoral national youth development project aims to reach 25,000 UAE nationals through market-driven, industry-led training and work-integrated learning opportunities to enhance their employability and support the UAE’s national priorities.

Under the initiative, Emirati youth will benefit from a structured work-integrated education model where they have the opportunity to work in industries relevant to their field as well as their academic education. The program involves the private sector and universities working together by applying real-world learning, keeping up with technical skills and addressing workforce challenges.

Each year, Mashreq and the Foundation select high-achieving graduates from TechUp, a pathway program under the Nomu initiative to support foundational and practitioner-level digital literacy skills development. Students will receive paid internships at Mashreq and the potential for full employment at one of the UAE’s leading financial institutions.

Ahmed Abdelaal, CEO of Mashreq Group, said: “We are delighted to play our role in empowering the next generation of Emiratis and equipping them with the skills to succeed in tomorrow’s workforce today. For several years, we have been implementing aggressive and A vibrant emirate strategy to complement the UAE government’s efforts to raise awareness and encourage more localisation in the financial services industry.

“The latest partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Educational Foundation will further strengthen this by creating a pipeline of Emirati youth from the Nomu initiative, who can integrate into Mashreq families according to their skills and education level.”

Nomu is contributing to the UAE government-led ‘Project 50’ programme to enhance the country’s global competitiveness and provide it with well-equipped young Emirati talent. It also helps advance the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, stressed the importance of collaboration, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Mashreq Bank as our first recruitment partner under the Nomu initiative. We are committed to understanding and valued Emirati professionals work as partners in the contribution that talent needed in the private sector can make.

“This is part of our commitment to support the UAE’s vision for the future of a diverse, competitive and skilled workforce. We have carefully designed our curriculum to provide young candidates with a rigorous blended learning experience and relevant training for international qualifications. The collaboration with Mashreq is An example of how we together nurture and develop future local leaders in the region.”
