Sabq Online Newspaper Wins Smart Journalism Award for Using Advanced Technology to Promote Content

Emad El Din Adib was named Media Person of the Year for his contributions to Egyptian journalism and Arab media. Writer and journalist Dr. Abdelilah Belkeziz received the Best Column Award for his numerous articles and columns in leading Arab and regional newspapers. Dr. Belkeziz’s work includes more than 50 books covering multiple genres including philosophy, humanities, and Islamic studies, in addition to several literary works.

These were presented to the winners of the 20th Arab Journalism Awards (AJA) at a ceremony held at Expo 2020 Dubai at Al Wasl Square. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, awarded the Sabq Online Newspaper Smart Journalism Award for their use of advanced Technical promotion content.

Mona Al Marri, Chairman of the Dubai Press Club and Secretary General of the Arab Press Awards; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Press Awards, Diyrashwan; Editor-in-Chief of local and Arab media agencies and prominent Arab journalists attended the event.

The Arab Journalism Awards recognize excellence in print and online journalism in 13 categories.

The awards ceremony began with a short film about recent events around the world. Singer Latifa performed a song with lyrics written by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

  • Political Journalism Award: Camille Tawil, Asharq Al-Awsat Newspaper, UK.

  • Investigative Reporting Award: UAE Al Bayan Newspaper.

  • Cultural Journalism Award: Azmy Abdelwahab, Al Ahram Magazine, Egypt.

  • Humanitarian Journalism Award: Hoda Zakaria from Egypt’s Youm 7 newspaper.

  • Economic Journalism Award: Kifaya Ollier, British independent Arab newspaper.

  • News Interview Award: Hamad Alduraihim, Al Jazirah Newspaper, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Sports Journalism Award: Atef Abdelwahed, Al Ahram Sport, Egypt.

  • Photojournalism Award: Mohammed Muhaisen, Palestinian Press Agency (SAFA), Palestine.

  • Outstanding Cartoonist Award: Nawaf AlMulla, Al Bilad Newspaper, Bahrain.

  • Young Journalists Awards: Shehab Tarek from Akhbar Al-Adab Literary Magazine, Egypt; Abdullah Ewies, from the Masrawy News Portal, Egypt; and Zyad Alfaifi from the Independent Arab State of Saudi Arabia.
