Yalla!Market, a 15-minute grocery delivery, launched in Dubai. The service delivers daily groceries and other items to your door for free.

Users will only be able to order through the mobile app or website, as it will operate out of dark stores to make deliveries faster and more efficient. The first dark store opened in August 2021, with two more opening in the Business Bay and JVC areas by the end of October.

Due to the delivery radius of several kilometers, the picking speed is extremely fast, and customers receive their orders from the nearest dark store within 15 minutes. The special way of storing goods and inaccessible to customers allows pickers to pick up the goods within just 3 minutes of purchase.

Because the stores are located in residential areas in high-density neighborhoods such as JLT, JVC, and Business Bay, couriers can deliver multiple orders at a time. The startup has raised $2.5 million in funds from Russia and the UAE (S7 Ventures – the global fund of S7 Group – Russia’s No. 1 private aerospace holding company), Wamda Capital (Mena) and Dubai Angels Seed funding. investor.

The Yalla!Market product line includes 2100 SKUs of everyday items and is updated weekly with carefully monitored order trends to ensure there are always the fewest out-of-stock items and to expand product range and user choice. The average order today is AED 55, including 9 positions.

Yalla!Market was founded by a team of Russian and Dubai entrepreneurs, including the former CEO of Samokat – the largest dark store by number of stores in the US and Europe among players (699 as of June 2021). Also among the founders are Leonid Dovbenko, CEO of iiko Middle East restaurant cloud-based POS, and CEO of Wakira Investments Nader Bassit as advisors.

The team continues to develop IT infrastructure and analytics systems to study user preferences and come up with the best products. The success of Yalla!Market in Dubai has encouraged expansion due to the need for faster delivery options, and will soon go live in Abu Dhabi and Qatar.

“Our team has been developing the IT infrastructure for restaurants in Dubai for many years, so we know the market from the inside. The MENA region is actively developing: the Expo will be held in the UAE this year, and Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup in 2022 – this is a huge potential for growth. We see the level of e-grocery development in the UAE is a far cry from Russia, which has been incredibly successful with courier services. Rolling out the same high level of service in this part of the world is great for us An ambitious task. We are delighted to see the response from local consumers,” said Leo Dovbenko, co-founder of Yalla!Market.

Orders are delivered using a fleet of electric scooters and bicycles, so users can rest assured that their convenient lifestyle choice is environmentally friendly.

The company also plans to launch the production of ready-to-eat meals: users will be able to order ready-to-eat meals under its own brand.
