One Etihad Airways On Monday, a flight to Moscow returned to Abu Dhabi shortly after take-off because of an unpleasant smell on board.
Flight EY065 left Terminal 3 shortly before 4am, but returned to the capital 47 minutes later.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner sent the code 7700, indicating a general emergency on board, according to real-time flight tracking site Plane Finder.
The passenger disembarked and was booked on an alternative flight to Sheremetyevo International Airport.
“Etihad Airways flight EY065 from Abu Dhabi to Moscow (SVO) on Monday 4 July and returned to Abu Dhabi International Airport shortly after takeoff due to reports of an unpleasant smell in the cabin,” Etihad A German Airline spokesman told National.
“The plane landed safely in Abu Dhabi and guests returned to the terminal, where they were informed of the new departure time and details of the plane’s replacement, while the source of the smell was thoroughly investigated.
“Etihad Airways apologises for the inconvenience this has caused, but as always, the safety and comfort of our passengers and crew is our top priority.”
