World News | Xi Jinping learns lessons from Ukraine war to conquer Taiwan: report

[ad_1]

Beijing [China]July 10 (ANI): As the Russian-Ukrainian war drags on, analysts say China is closely watching the conflict that has been unfolding over the past four months to learn lessons for a possible invasion of Taiwan.

The latest phone exchange between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 15 underscores the growing ties between the two countries in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine.

In a phone call to Vladimir Putin on his 69th birthday, Xi assured the Russian leader that “in the face of global turmoil and change, the relationship between the two countries maintains a good momentum of development”.

China’s president’s pledge to Moscow of more support for “sovereignty and security” is tantamount to the Chinese leader’s dismissive dismissal of all earlier warnings from the West that China risks major reputational damage for not condemning the Kremlin .

But what worries Western leaders even more is that Xi has further doubled down on his pledge to deepen strategic coordination between the two countries.

Yang Jianli and Yan Yu, who write for Providence magazine, argue that Xi must speed up the internationalization of the renminbi and build an international business network based on it, free from the dollar.

They say Xi must also pressure and assist Chinese political families and oligarchs who are unwilling to move or protect overseas assets to do so. “The longer they wait, the more likely they will turn against Xi Jinping because they will suffer from the massive sanctions imposed by Western countries.”

Yang Heyu pointed out that one of the main reasons why the United States and NATO have so far stayed out of the invasion of Ukraine is Putin’s nuclear threat. “The lesson learned by other countries is undoubtedly that the nuclear threat is effective.”

“If China’s attempt to conquer Taiwan also enters a period of stalemate, preventing Chinese domestic anti-war activists from using international public opinion to increase their power and push for political change may be Xi’s top priority,” they added.

Regardless of which side wins the Russia-Ukraine war, Yang and Yu said it is in the Xi regime’s best interest as long as Putin survives, as Moscow will continue to attract the attention of the democratic world to counter long-term threats to it.

“In order to minimize the positive impact of Xi Jinping’s influence, the United States, the European Union and other Western powers should effectively resist the brutal expansionism of the autocratic countries, provide sufficient support to Ukraine to help Ukraine win the war quickly, and thus reverse the substantial unity of the two countries. Democracy World become the decisive military factor,” they added. (ANI)
