Anantara, the luxury hotel brand for the modern traveller, announced that its newly opened Anantara Downtown Hotel in Dubai has appointed Hussam Marki as its new general manager.
Located in Business Bay, the hotel has 252 rooms and suites overlooking Dubai’s cityscape and stunning views of the Burj Khalifa. Five unique restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and the tranquil Anantara Spa are available for guests and visitors, an Anantara statement said.
A Jordanian national, Husam has over 20 years of luxury hospitality experience. He started his career at the front desk and impressed management with his dedication to customer service before becoming Executive Assistant Manager at the Rotana Hotel in Erbil, Iraq. From there, Dubai and Salalah roles followed, and Hussam’s career progressed, it said.
It added that he took up the position after relocating from Anantara’s Banana Island resort in Doha, overlooking the day-to-day operations of the busy city property.
“I’m excited to start a new chapter in my career at Anantara. The hotel is in a great location and I look forward to leading the team through the challenges posed by a busy city centre hotel. I have no doubt we can deliver at this new address , Anantara is known for its high standards of hospitality,” Hussam said.
During his long tenure, Husam gained valuable industry knowledge working with leading hotel groups including Accor, Hyatt, Marriott and Starwood before joining Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas in 2014.
His first role at the luxury brand was as resident manager of Anantara’s Qasr Al Sarab desert resort, and he was then invited to lead the opening of another Minor Hotels property, the Souk Al Wakra Hotel in Tivoli, Doha, Qatar, the statement said. .
In 2019, Malki became the General Manager of Anantara Doha Banana Island Resort, where he was responsible for developing key business strategies for the hotel and increasing the visibility of the offshore property to international guests. During this period, he also held the position of general manager of Souk Al Wakra at Tivoli in Doha, Qatar, it added.
