Trinidadian social entertainer Voice said he’s excited about the return of binge season after nearly two years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A lot of people need to revel,” said the three-time social monarch, describing the atmosphere as one full of good vibes, excitement and relaxation.

He said he believed the resumption of the carnival was a step in the right direction.

As for his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, the entertainer said that Trinidadians have started their carnival season. “Every party has action and energy,” Voice told scavenger After his performance at the Heineken Tailgate on Thursday, the main event for carnival band Xodus. He shared that his most recent party had around 10,000 revellers. “Right now, I feel like people are celebrating and really enjoying [the] 2021 and 2022 Carnival [season],” he said, adding that social and carnival lovers were already gearing up for 2023.

Sunday’s road parade will be Voice’s fifth carnival in Jamaica. The artist is no stranger to the island; this is his second visit to the country this year.

“Jamaica, it’s always a pleasure to be here; it’s always a good vibe, a good energy, and the vibe is always good,” he told scavenger. He said the event was an amazing experience for him. “A lot of Jamaicans know my songs. They love the lyrics and the way I make music,” Voice said.

Jamaica Carnival was last held in 2019. The carnival was first postponed in 2020 after Jamaica recorded its first case of COVID-19. It was then pushed back to October, only to be rescheduled to April 2021. In March 2021, as Jamaica experienced a third wave of the virus, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced that the organizers of Jamaica’s Carnival would abandon the annual road parade and related events. April 2021 due to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After two years of Tabanka events, it was announced in March that the Jamaica Carnival would take place in July.

The long-awaited return of Jamaica’s Mardi Gras brings two carnival bands to the streets today – Bacchanal and Xodus. Carnival band Xaymaca has decided not to perform in July and has said it will organize its band to perform in Jamaica later. The parade of the third band, the Downtown Carnival, originally scheduled to hit the road on July 10, has been postponed until 2023.

The National Works Agency will intermittently close the following roads to facilitate the Bacchanal and Xodus Road Parade on Sunday, July 10 from 10am to 6pm

– Waterloo Road

– Old Hope Road

– Knutsford Avenue

Xodus will start at Devon House, turn left onto Waterloo Road, then left onto Hope Road, right onto Lady Musgrave Road, right onto Trafalgar Road to reach Devon House.

2:50pm – 6pm

After lunch, the parade will start at Devon House, turn left onto Waterloo Road, continue onto Trafalgar Road, turn right onto Lady Musgrave Road, continue onto Old Hope Road, turn right onto Oxford Road, turn right onto Knutsford Boulevard, then turn left onto Trafalgar Road, ends at Devon House.

Bacchus Road Parade

11am to 6pm

Bacchanal will start at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, turn left onto Hope Road, right onto Lady Musgrave Road, right onto Trafalgar Road, right onto Hope Road and finally to Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. After lunch, they will head in the opposite direction, following Hope Road to Trafalgar Road into New Kingston city centre, before returning to the Lenny Williams Recreation Centre.
