[ad_1]

UAE tops 1 million on Tuesday Coronavirus disease Infections since the global outbreak.

Milestone number reached after another 919 case confirmed.

The country’s overall statistics are now at 1,000,556.

The number of recoveries climbed to 979,362 after 859 more people beat the virus in the past 24 hours.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths in the most recent reporting period, with the death toll at 2,337.

Tuesday’s case was detected through 197,921 PCR tests.

To date, more than 179 million tests have been performed.

The UAE is the 68th country to surpass 1 million infections, according to data aggregator Worldometer.

There have been more than 590 million cases worldwide.

The United States recorded the most infections at over 94 million, ahead of India (44 million), France and Brazil (both around 34 million) and Germany (31 million).

The number of cases in the UAE has declined in recent weeks after a surge in infections in June.

Mass screening and a broad vaccination strategy have been key to curbing the spread of the virus, which began spreading globally two and a half years ago.

Stay-at-home measures and deep cleaning operations were introduced in the early stages of the outbreak. Offices and schools were closed and flights were grounded as a precaution.

Authorities have introduced physical distancing rules and mandated the wearing of masks in public.

Safety measures have been gradually relaxed in recent months to support a return to normalcy and take into account the decline in the number of cases.

In February, the UAE lifted the requirement to wear face coverings in outdoor venues, while motorists travelling to Abu Dhabi from other emirates no longer need to show their green pass status on the Al Hosn app.
