Ohio River camper in Evansville featured in Weekly World News

[ad_1]

Evansville – Move over, Bat Boy: Evansville’s famous landmark has landed “Weekly World News”.

The fiction-laden black-and-white tabloid, which has been popping up at grocery store checkouts for years and warning about the end of the world every few weeks, posted an Ohio River camper’s post on its Facebook and Instagram pages Tuesday morning.

The post was another joke about the feud between Kane West and “Saturday Night Live” alum Pete Davidson, who briefly dated West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian. It shows Davidson standing on a sandbar with the camper van – named “P**n Saloon” – in the background.

“Pete Davidson left a suspicious establishment in Utah’s western desert,” the caption said.

“With Kanye following him,” the caption read, “he (the original) hiding somewhere. “

‘The best thing’:The Ohio River camper caught Evansville’s attention. Why?

Changing the camper’s location isn’t the biggest deviating fact that News of the World has taken.

The tabloid ceased publication in 2007, but came back online a few years later, known for its fictional, quirky headlines. In its pages, Hillary Clinton adopts an alien baby, Elvis survives, and the end of the world is always around the corner.

Its greatest creation, however, was the Bat Boy: a half-bat, half-boy found in a cave who allegedly later formed a rock band, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and fought in the Iraq War.

In this July 28 photo, campers sit on the Ohio River sandbar. A few days later, the Ohio River rose, sweeping campervans downstream toward Henderson.

Campers are now joining the fray. It caused a stir in Evansville when it appeared on the sandbar in July, sparking a flood of tourists, social media posts, and contempt from local and federal law enforcement, who argued that as the Ohio River rose, it was a danger.

The camper eventually sank. It broke on a boat ramp when two Kentucky rescue services pulled it out of the water.
