[ad_1]

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a joint venture between UAE holding company ADQ and Hungary-based Wizz Air, has suspended plans to resume flights between the Russian capital Moscow and Abu Dhabi.

It cited industry supply chain constraints in a statement.

“Passengers who booked these flights will be contacted via email and offer them the option to receive a refund on their original payment method or a 120% refund on the WIZZ credit,” the airline said in a statement.

London-listed Wizz Air holds a 49 percent stake in Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, whose planes carry the European airline’s name and brand. ADQ, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, has a 51% stake.

This month, Wizz Air said Flights between Abu Dhabi and Moscow to resume from October. On February 27, it suspended all fighting with Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

Wizz Air also holds an Airline Operating Certificate (AOC) in the UK and Hungary.

European airlines have stopped doing business with Russia, while Russian airlines have been banned from EU airspace as part of Western sanctions over the conflict, which Moscow has described as a “special military operation”.

The UAE has not imposed sanctions on Russia, instead saying it seeks to maintain a neutral stance.

After the invasion of Ukraine, other Emirates airlines, including Emirates, continued to serve Russia.
