Microsoft has announced the general availability of Azure Availability Zones, which will be delivered from its UAE data center in Dubai, aimed at improving the competitiveness of UAE businesses through business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.
“With the advent of the always-on economy, uptime and constant access to critical data, applications and workloads have become the top concerns for technology stakeholders in the region,” said Naim Yazbeck, general manager of Microsoft UAE.
“As businesses move forward with industry turmoil and increased competition from market disruptors, competitiveness depends on the ability to remain operational even if external issues destabilize markets and supply chains. Backup alone cannot provide such capabilities. Fast Recovery requires strategy-focused infrastructure and solutions to work effectively. That’s what Azure Availability Zones provide.”
Azure Availability Zones are a key component of a comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery strategy. It is designed to guarantee the resiliency and availability of critical business applications and data in times of crisis with advanced architecture and built-in end-to-end security.
The launch of Azure Availability Zones also marks the readiness of Microsoft’s cloud location in the UAE to be the backbone of the organization’s future-proof plans in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
Azure Availability Zones will be based on the capabilities and benefits provided by Microsoft’s enterprise-class data center in Dubai, which began operations in June 2019. The services of these facilities have enabled several organizations to further enhance their capabilities and reimagine their operations. Companies that have migrated to the UAE’s Microsoft Azure Availability Zone include Emirates Group, Dubai Commercial Bank, Mashreq Bank and First Abu Dhabi Bank.
